I just got a .38 Special a couple months ago. Living down here by myself I felt that I needed some protection. I just passed my CWP course last weekend and sent for my permit. A revolver was recommended to me because it is less likely to malfunction. As someone else said, just aim and pull the trigger.
I can highly recommend DES Training located in Rock Hill for their classes. They are very thorough. They do both NC and SC CWP courses plus a bunch of others including a basic pistol course. www.shootingsafe.com . Another place with a range is Sportsman Inc. also in Rock Hill.

This thread should go to the local authorities? Pray for the world? Speechless and scared?
Seriously...are you for real?????? Save your prayers. Don't pray for anyone here, pray for yourself if you're finding yourself victim of a hold up/armed robbery with nothing to protect you but your own two hands.
I take to heart the line that General George S. Patton once used: "May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't".

The bleeding hearts are really something, huh?
I wonder if what they're truly afraid of is someone in their family (or them) getting shot while breaking into a gun owners home.
If someone breaks into my home the only thing I can assume is that they're there to harm my wife or myself and I intend to use deadly force to the fullest.

No, I have small children and wouldn't want to chance an accident happening, regardless of safety measures. I really don't feel I need one, though. Ignorant? Sure.
I do keep a screwdriver in my nightstand, lol! Whatever comforts us, u know?

This is what makes me sad.. So willing to take another life.. even that of someone.. never mind.. ugh.
I also still don't understand why people would feel sorry for anyone who doesn't feel the need to have a gun. I am not treading on anyone's rights by not having one. I think it's perfectly fine that YOU have one. But don't look down upon my views of having one. I would prefer a gunless society I know thats never going to happen, so we really on other means.. And if you feel that a gun is the way to go, feel free. But if and when I have kids, I hope you tell me you have one, because I would never take a chance of having my kid over there unless I knew the situation 100%! My family has guns, and they are in a gun safe 100% of the time unless in use.

At least it's there if the robber needs any of what he's stealing fixed before he leaves.

What is offensive to me is the revolving door policy of the courts of Charlotte that causes people to be afraid in their own homes because the thugs are back out on the street so quickly. What is offensive to me is that the thugs have become so brazen as to kick in doors with people actually in the house to steal things. What is offensive to me is that not only do the thugs break into somewhere and get what they want, they feel it is still necessary to shoot, and kill, the people anyhow because they get a "thrill" out of it. What is offensive to me is that in order to take advantage of the great parts of Charlotte, in order to feel safe and able to defend myself I have to carry a weapon. What is offensive to me is that I can't go out and just enjoy myself....I have to constantly be looking around me and over my shoulder. What is offensive to me is that if I have had my garage door open for any amount of time, I feel it necessary to walk around the cars and look underneath them to make sure someone hasn't sneaked in while I wasn't looking.
THAT is what's offensive to me!
I have no problems whatsoever with those who do not wish to have a gun. That is your choice and perogative. And for those who accord me the same consideration for my choice, I appreciate it. But the last thing I find offensive is that this country has become SO PC that people make derogatory remarks about the lawful choices that others make that they feel it is necessary to have the government rule their lives. It seems that there are so many people trying to find offense in every word that someone says and every choice that someone makes any more. If it comes down to me/my family or the thugs, guess which one will lose. I will not go willingly into that good night. But if you choose to do so, that is YOUR choice and perogative. Just don't FORCE it on me.
