Default Parking situation in Charlotte

Hi all,

First, i want to let you know that although this is my first post, i've found this forum to be invaluable for candid info on charlotte.

i will be moving to charlotte (or surrounding area) in the fall. I am from Boston (go sox!), where it is completely foolish to think you can own a car AND live in the city. Parking is completely impossible and driveways/parking areas simply don't exist. Street parking is generally "reserved" by way of shopping carriages or trash barrels. If you dare move the object in order to park, you are pretty much agreeing to have your car keyed. I'm wondering if it is a similar situation in Charlotte. Is it stupid to think i could have a car and a motorcycle in the city? Would it make more sense to live outside the city?

Thanks much!
