Default What time do you stop answering the door?

Happy Halloween, everyone!

What time does everyone stop answering the door for trick or treaters? I'm thinking nothing past 9 or 9:30. All I'm seeing by that time are the teenagers who are old enough to shave, aren't wearing a costume...and I always get the feeling of being not quite sure if they're there to get candy or to rob me!

Thoughts?

Most of the little kids show up before it gets dark around dinner time. We don't see any kids show up in our neighborhood after 8:30pm. Which reminds me, I need to get good candy for them.

So does this area have specific times for trick-or-treating or is it from whenever until whenever? Where we just moved from out of state the times were from 5-8 or something like that.

I think it really depends on the neighborhood. But generally, in my neighborhood, the little ones come early with their parents. We don't get very many older kids. There are a lot of Halloween parties around town though.

I don't think there are specific times. Generally people start right around dusk with the younger kids, and it goes to about 9.

We are heading out around 6 or 6:30 with our three year old and will likely be back home no later than 9:00, maybe closer to 8:30.

While we're out with our kids, we leave a basket with candy on the porch... amazingly, kids in our neighborhood are respectful and there is plenty to go around. (probably becaue parents tend to be with their kids in my neighborhood). At the end of the night we leave out whatever we don't want for the teenagers to have at it.

Just so you know Ultra, I'll be by around 10:00 and my favorites include Candy Corn, Blowpops, Tootsie Pops and the always popular Tootsie Rolls. Feel free to get creative if you'd like

Jake

p.s. I stopped shaving yesterday!!!

Wherever I've lived, the littlest ones usually come around 5:30 or so and no younger kids after 8:30-ish. Does Charlotte have "trunk or treat"? My grandkids do that, parents go to their church's parking lot, open the car trunks, and everyone makes the rounds to get treats. It's good for kids who live in areas where there ren't a lot of kids, and some parents think it's safer.
