I am searching for a reputable daycare provider (center or in-home) for my toddler in the South Charlotte area. I would love to hear from anyone about places/people that they would recommend for full-time child-care. We are looking to relocate in the summer.

I think you may run into problems even now as daycares are filling up NOW for next Aug.

The preschool/daycare we would like our son in had parents camping out overnight two weeks ago to get their children in. It is now completely full for next year and has a waiting list.

Hopefully someone can give you some others but I have been calling around and the deadline to sign up has passed for many places.

I am not sure about south Charlotte, but two daycares I called in Huntersville will have space for my toddler (she will be 2 by then) in the May/June timeframe if I get on the list now. Another daycare may be able to take her at the end of March.

So just keep calling around. Also, once you get on a list, keep calling to check your status. I did that for our current daycare, and actually got bumped to the top of the list because the daycare had not heard from other parents and figured I might as well get the spot!

Did you have to pay to have her put on the list? The ones I am calling require a non-refundable $100-$150 registration fee just to be put on the list.

For a newborn in the Lake Norman area is around $200 per week.

IT goes down from there....

Yes - but only $30.00. So I am putting her on the one list while continuing to look around. The monthly cost will be about $800, btw. (This is a Kids R Kids place in Huntersville)

thanks for the info.

I hesitate to put him on a list yet because I am still not sure if I will be working in Aug. or not. I have applied to the school district but don't have a job lined up yet and probably won't until March or April.

I will go to CharlotteMommies.com and ask some questions.
