A common thought echoed seems to be that the taxes in Charlotte and Mecklenburg County in general are "high". I have gathered the tax rates from the county websites for cities in Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Iredell and Gaston counties. What I found is that it appears that almost all of the municipalities in Gaston County have higher property tax rates than Charlotte's tax rate of 1.2775. Iredell and Cabarrus property tax rates are the lowest, but I though Gaston County taxes were supposed to be low as well? Am I missing something or was I just mistaken about the taxes in Gaston County?
