I was wondering if anyone knew of a boxing/mixed martial arts gym in Charlotte. I'd like somewhere that is more adult fighting, rather then family martial art place (mostly kids). Somewhere that will actually teach life saving moves, rather then just how to punch and kick pretty lol. I'm 22, and I'm just looking for something to keep me in shape. I am not looking for competition, or trophies, or forms, or wearing a silly uniform. Just somewhere I can better myself

If anyone has seen the movie Never Back Down, that's the type of gym I'm looking for.http://images.allmoviephoto.com/2008...k_down_004.jpg

There use to be a place called Fight Survival off of Hawthorne LN. I believe the site is www.fightsurvival.com The owner of this is one tough dude and the workouts seem pretty intense.

My fiancee takes jiu jitsu in Concord, it's mainly adults and some teens, definitely not a "family" place, he says it really keeps him in shape (you gotta be, with the amount of exertion involved with this type of sport)

haha, wrong Concord.

I actually never did find the type of club the OP was looking for. Several have closed down and not on the north side. I wish someone would open an old school gym in North Charlotte.

By old school, it's not pretty, has more free eithers, less machines. Not 1 starimaster to be seen. Can have bikes. Heavy bags, leg press machines, etc. Sigh..

I can't even find a good place with a pool.
