Sorry....going back a few pages now to the flowering plants.

I just didn't think azaleas would still be blooming this time of year but some of the rose bushes still are. However, the plants with shiny leaves (probably saw-tooth edges if you look close) are CAMELLIAS!! Some people prune them into more formal shapes and some people leave them shrubby but they are blooming now for sure. They can have double blooms or single and might resemble either an azalea or a simple rose.

We have a few that are in full shade and never bloom...one year we will get around to moving them so we can have some fall/winter blossoms.

Ohhhhhhh! Yes, camellias!!!! I don't have any here at this house and soooo want to get some as yes, at other homes we have had in this region - we had blooms on occasion when it SNOWED!!! (early snow, of course). You can get shades of pink/red and even "candy-striped" ones!!!!

Is it to late to split monkey grass? I have a large clump that I want to thin out and use as a border around a flower bed.

Nope, not too late. I think in a few more weeks you should just wait until early spring but I would do it now.
