Hello

I am looking for a very good gym in charlotte with good equipment. All I seem to find are these little gyms with not much to offer. I am from Texas and was a member of Lifetime Fitness....oh how I wish Lifetime was in Charlotte. There is one in Raleigh but that doesnt help me here. Any suggestions???

I appreciate it!

Peak Fitness has alot of facilities around town and they seem pretty stocked.
Start there?

YMCAs here are very nice. Several different sized clubs, lots of equipment and nice. It is funny to go to other places and see how run down some of them are.

planet fitness is cheap ($10 a month) but lacks on benches (just three at my location).

there are free weights, tons of elipticals, machines and 4 smith machines. for $10 a month, you really can't beat it.

What side of town are you on? There are a few I can tell you about but it depends on how far you want to drive.

In Motion Fitness in Cornelius is a one-on-one facility and they are AWESOME! They also have group classes that really kick your butt. They opened a 24-hour facility that is more like a regular gym a mile or so from their Cornelius location (it is off of exit 28, by Dancing Leaf Spa). Here is their web site: In Motion Fitness (http://www.inmotionfitnessinc.com/v2/index.htm - broken link)

Lifestayle Family Fitness has a location in the University area and Matthews: Lifestyle Family Fitness :: Club Locator

Harris YMCA in South Charlotte is one of the best gyms I have been to. Their pools are well worth the money alone.

I am waiting for himain to tell me what problems he has had with Peaks. I joined a couple of weeks ago and have been happy. They were offering two years for the price of one. Being a retired serviceman, I was able to get membership for two years for less than $200. I belong to the one in Cornelius and have to watch when I go as it gets really busy during certain periods of the day.
