Driving a group of family from Raleigh to Charlotte on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Family is from Philadelphia area.

If we've got 4 - 5 hours, is there any "classic" place we should eat for lunch that's not too expensive. We're open for anything, but something special to Charlotte would be nice.

How about a "must see" or "must do." Again, we're up for anything as long as it's interesting.

No kids in this group - all adults.

Thanks!

Is it engraved in stone that you come to CLT? Cause I was thinking - Old Salem in Winston is a terrific place to go . . . Not trying to discourage you from CLT, tho!!! LOL!!!

Y'all can come help me put out Christmas decorations, cause that is what we will be doing the day after Thanksgiving!

Do you all want to shop and have a late lunch or dinner? Want to visit a museum?

If you are coming to town, I guess a stroll through the city (called Uptown) is a must. The main street in Tryon St. and that runs south to north. The city center is the intersection of Tryon and Trade St.

If you are in the city, I would check out the new EpiCenter complex (Corner of College St. and Trade St.) which has a ton of nice bars and restuarants. Whiskey River is Dale Earnhardt Jrs' bar and that always a favorite.

Go to Lulu for food. Seriously, I can never suggest this place enough. It's in a converted house, in a really interesting section of Charlotte. French/American/whatever else bistro food at its finest. All the atmosphere of an expensive restaurant without the prices. The moules frites are to die for.

If you're race fans, you absolutely HAVE to go to Lowes Motor Speedway on the day after Thanksgiving. If you spend $50 on memoribilia (or donate $25 to Childrens Charities) you get to take 2 laps on the track, in your car. This has become a family tradition for us, and the kids love it more every yr!

How long does it take to do this? Will we have to wait 3 hours to get on the track??

I'll be in a full size van for one so that will be interesting.
