What is this Noda area? Is that a safe area to go check out?

The center of NoDA is the intersection of North Davidson and 36th.

Sure, it's a safe area to check out. Lots of art galleries, shops and bar/restaurants to check out there.

It's kinda like a Little Asheville, right here in Charlotte. What is it, the first and third Friday evenings are gallery crawls every month? Lots of people, usually live music, food, and art. Some over priced, some crappy, but you'll find some good here and there.

This area is considered the artsy part of town. If you go I would check it out during the gallery crawl which is usually the 1st and 3rd weekend of every month although it may be seasonal. The area is as safe as any urban part of town. If you are concerned about this just stay off of the back alley side streets and use good judgement. If you go be sure to check out Cabo for some awesome fish tacos. Yumm!

It's not as big as you may think...in fact, it's probably one of the smallest "culture centers" I've ever seen in a city. It's barely a square block. That reason alone keeps it from becoming renowned (in my opinion)...you know, like Pike's Market is for Seattle, or Little Italy/China is for a lot of US cities.

While you are there eat at CABO FISH TACO, Baja Seagrill. These are the only good fish tacos I have found in Charlotte. Still not as good as Rubio's or Wahoo's but close enough.

This area has actually been around for several years. It use to be called just North Davidson before the name change a few years back. I remember when all that was there was Fat City, Pats Time for One More Bar and some Italian Eatery that I do not remember the name of. The area has really taken off recently. Have fun on your visit!
