Looking for real chopped liver, corned beef, pastrami - has anyone found anything close to that around Charlotte?

I was going to point you toward Katz New York Deli near the Arboretum which has gotten favorable 'NY Deli' reviews here in the past, but the website seems to be kaputz. I hope this does not mean they are closing.

Be sure to call ahead, especially if you're looking for bread. They sell out quickly but if they know you want a loaf of challah, for instance, they'll put one aside for you.

And be prepared for sticker shock ---since they pretty much have the niche kosher market all to themselves their prices are very high $19.95/ pound for pastrami would be unheard of elsewhere.

I rather not go through the hassle and just find a All Southern Style Carolina deli. I live here, so I might as well adapt to the local customs.

There is a new deli in Plantation Market (on Weddington Rd across from the Siskey YMCA) called Sam and Carlie's that is supposed to be a real NY deli. I have not been there, but per their advertisements they claim to be from NY, have corned beef, pastrami, etc.
