I have to get repair estimates on both our Protron 32" HDTV and my Sansa e260 mp3 player. I know what part needs to be replaced on the Protron but I need someone to give me a written part and repair estimate and / or suggest replacement to submit for the extended warranty. The tv malfunctions periodically (sounds turns up and down w/o touching it) so paying someone $150 to come look at a "perfectly good" tv for 5 minutes isn't going to do me any good. (I know that protron is very difficult to get parts from so we may need to have it replaced instead).
I also have a sansa mp3 player that is malfunctioning at the headphone jack and menu wheel. No one in the area seems to repair them (due to high cost for repair- might as well replace) but I still need a written estimate for repair and / or replacement.
Would love to know if anyone or if you know anyone that could give me one or both estimates (free or very little cost)! Thanks much!!!

Have you tried using a different headphone on the MP3 player? Head sets & headphones are notorious for problems at the connector.

I have used different headphones. even bought new ones. If you wiggle the input of the headphones, it "helps" the sound (comes out one side or both- just depends on how you wiggled it). Sansas are also notorious for having headphone jack problems (loose connectors inside)

TV repair should be pretty easy if you're willing to lug the TV to the shop. I've never had to repair a TV that wasnt' cheaper to replace so I can't help there.

Also, you'll be hard pressed to find an electronics shop that will repair anything but iPods locally. You might have some luck with an internet repair place for your sansa.

Even then, I would just buy a new one.

SanDisk Electronics - Sansa e260 4GB MP3 Player - Black - SDMX44096

I picked mine up, same model, on woot.com for like $40 a few months back and It was brand new.

Edit, I picked up a Sandisk Sansa e270 6GB Media Player with FM Tuner for $55 shipped in Feb. I'm not sure where I got my e260, maybe from a friend.

Good luck!

Thanks. I have called a few local and chain electronic repair places. Even if I lug it in, they still want over $50 bucks to write up an estimate!
As for the mp3... I want to take advantage of having an extended warranty and possibly get full reimbursement for it... it would buy me an even better mp3 player!
