Okay, since you're going there I'm gonna have to put Stash's Subs on Kearny Avenue. That place made the best subs I've ever had. Second to none.

The 2 other places I miss in Chicago were local....Clara's (Italian)in Woodbridge and the Old Stone Cafe in Lockport. Old Stone had the best Chicken and Dumpling soup in the world.......yes, they do make Chicken and Dumplings in IL. Ha. Oh, and I miss having a really good Middle Eastern restaurant in the area.

That said, I'm also glad to be back in NC where we have grits, bbq, Bojangle's, Sweet Tea, Fried everything, and butter in our biscuits.
That's the place! I'm surprised to find someone else that's heard of it, but it is THE BEST breakfast restaurant! Although down here there are some good country breakfasts to be had also.

OMG!! I was going to say Stashes when you posted Firehouse to torture Ani. I lived in Kearny and as teens, we started out our evenings with a sub from Stashes and ended it with french fries and gravy at Eagans. Were you from Kearny??

Yep, on the end closest to Newark about two blocks up from American Steel.

Of the two places you mentioned, only Stashes is still there.
