I hear all this talk in other threads about how transplants come here and complain that Charlotte isn't like where they came from. And it's not. It's just a fact of life. I've lived here for 4 years and I still miss/crave things from "back home". Ironically "back home" to me is Washington, DC. When I lived in DC, "back home" was Atlanta, GA.

And I would bet you that when you move to another state, "back home" will be Charlotte!

So what places do you miss? We have a thread like this every so often and I really enjoy them. (And it invariably reminds me of things I've forgotten I missed!)

I miss:

- Baja Fresh
- Wegmans
- The "Great American Restaurants" chain of restaurants from DC (Artie's, Sweetwater Taven) - kind of like Harper's restaurants in Charlotte

Things removed off my "I miss" list since last time:
- Trader Joe's (YAY!)

I love fried chicken from Prices's but every now and again pollo tropical would be nice.

Oh and I miss british fish n chips, but for that I have to go back home.

Plant a Wawa's close by and move the entire Atlantic City boardwalk over here and I'll be totally set for life.

Don't forget Mike's American Grill in Springfield! I used to work in Newington - it was really the only place my office would go for any celebration.

The sausage sandwiches from the Midway stand are probably the only things I miss from Seaside Heights. Although this past summer I did get a chance to watch "Jaws" on the beach. That was pretty cool.

Right now I miss the Philly newscasts because I know where the places are that they report on. I'll get over that soon enough.

Long term, I'll miss the monthly shopping run to Delaware. OK, tax free shopping will be reserved for trips north.
