Portofino's and Mamma Ricotta's you can not go wrong with. Everything that I have had at either place was delicious.

Angelas has the best sauce . The sauce you complian about being to much, we use to sop it up with their homemade bread yum yum .

We have eaten our way through that whole menu and its all delicious.

These all look good...but i think what i'm looking for is a nice "hole in the wall" type of place.

I haven't been in a while, but I don't think Portofinos is fancy... but rather casual. More like a walk-in, mom and pop style place.

Then try Mamma Lena's in Waxhaw, concrete floor, exposed brick walls and the all important red and white checkered table cloths.

I think I got it confused with a different restaurant. I was thinking of the one in Mint Hill on 51 up by Lowes Foods.

If you're looking for a "hole in the wall", Open Kitchen is probably the closest to what you are thinking of. Traditional Italian, very unassuming, casual, and not a chain by any means. It's on Morehead St. They've been around "forever"!
