To Real Estate agents or Home Sellers,

What is the average % rate you have to pay to list your house with real estate.

while everything is negotiable in our MLS the average I would say is 6%. 3% to the listing agent then 3% to the buyers agent. Again, this is not law or set in stone but it does seem the norm.

Then again you could always list your home with a Flat Fee company and do it FSBO and save yourself some money there. I guess it all depends on how comfortable you are with the home buying/selling process.

Jackie, you don't "pay" to list your house - you pay your realtor once they get the house sold. All fees are negoiated between seller and realtor - there is no set rate. I have heard of percentages as low as 3% and as high as 7%.
