With 106.1 changing format in January 2009, anyone have suggestions on where to go for true oldies (talking 50&60s)? How about beach music without moving to the beach?
It is so sad that they are changing. I was really sad when Magic 96.1 changed from oldies, and I still miss Eggman.

Sirius/xm, So glad I switched several years ago. Considering approx 20 minutes of every hour is devoted to commercials on normal radio its well worth it to me for the $13 I pay a month in subscription dues.
Oldies no matter what era to literally 150 channels of anything yo can think of.......no I'm not the poster boy for satellite radio I just enjoy it
What are they changing their format to???
Let me guess religious music or some crap like that...
A friend of mine used to be their morning man and he said that 106.1 was the last station the owner had that wasn't church music.
He got sick of the heavy control over what kind of music he played.
It's too bad, but I had stopped listening to them a good while back, they had way more BS talk and commercials than decent music.
I am moderately young (40ish) and miss Magic 96.1.
It was fun old stuff I grew up on and I could play with my kids in the car.
Although I love 95.7 The Ride, and 99.7 The Fox, it is not exactly music I want to play for my kids.
Oldies and Beach Music were fun for them.
Norsan Media has announced that on January 1, 2009 onwards it will operate WOLS 106.1 FM station . WOLS 106.1 FM will be the newest Spanish Language FM station in Charlotte and the second FM here for Norsan Media, the group that also publishes the weekly "Mi Gente".
Try Pandora on the web.I have had a good deal of luck listening to just about any type of music. The concept is you "build your own stations" by requesting the type of music you want in your "library". Someone else in the system might be "listening" to this music and you then draw (download) from them. One can download some very esoteric music as I soon found out.
I am a fan of music called fado. On my first trip to Pandora I seached a particular artist and within minutes I was listening to her music. I am certain the type of music you want will be readily available.
