Has anyone installed recycled glass countertops? And if so, can you recommend a vendor/contractor.

I've never heard of this. I just googled it and I like it. Do you know how it's made?

I'm wondering if this is something I could do myself.

I would assume that the matrix would be some sort of cement or epoxy/resin. Not sure how it is made. I am greenovating a home and want to use as much recycled material as possible.

It's huge in Australia. Both my friends have it and love it. They also have the recycled backsplashes. Looks great.

Default Recycled Glass Countertops

There are several places to buy recycled glass that will keep you from having to crush it yourself. I use 3 pounds of recycled glass per square foot (for a two inch thick countertop) mixed with enough concrete mix to hold the glass together. There are nation wide distributors for a business out of california called [mod] need more than 10 posts to make specific recs [/mod] You can do this yourself....there are books and videos available. It is time consuming, messy and you do need a separate space. This time of year, it's not something you can do outside unless you live in a warm climate.
Any questions, feel free to [mod] DM him [/mod]

Default What type of counter-top?

Is it a solid piece of glass or is it in squares? Do you have a link so I can see how it is installed or what it looks like.

I may have a contact person for you. He does all my installations for counter-tops and does a great job.

ones i have seen are solid, sort of like a slab of granite. And they are more expensive than granite.

Has anyone heard of IceStone recycled glass countertops? They look pretty nice:
