where would you buy?

Or would you stay right where you are?

Would you want to try urban living for a change?

Would you want to buy acreage and live outside the city limits?

This is not so much a question about "a dream home," but rather one about communities, schools and conveniences . . . where would you wanna be? Or would you do it all the same again . . . if you had to do it over?

My number one choice would be uptown - but only if I worked there. Close second is Elizabeth, followed by Plaza-Midwood. I like being surrounded by millions of things to do I guess. I like city, downtowns. Not such a fan of strip malls and such.

But since I work in Steele Creek, there's no place I'd rather be.

Oh, and I wouldn't buy a house. I'd rent. Or maybe possibly buy a condo.

I am torn. I would love some land for my kids to have room to roam and to raise some goats in my "spare time."

But, I would also love to live in Myers Park. Close to work, good schools, busing to many of the south Charlotte private schools. Beautiful houses, close to restaurants and Freedom Park.

Very happy with where I am right now - Blakeney area. But eventually want to drift a little further away - maybe a bit deeper into Union County. I really love some of the older, wooded lots in Weddington or Waxhaw or beyond. Beautiful land out there.

Just two years ago I was leaning towards Uptown...so ask me tomorrow and I may give you a different answer..

I love, love, love living in Belmont. But I could also easily live in uptown if it were just the hubby and I. Maybe when the kids are grown we could downsize somewhere there and enjoy all that there is to see and do.

Honestly I'd move to Alaska.

Wow - great replies! I guess we all do think about this . . .

I am very happy right here but some days I think I would really like to be closer to LKN or LKW.

Barking - we do believe you! I hope you can someday get to Alaska . . .

Well let's see. For under $250. . . wonder what type of townhouse I could get - maybe around Huntersville or Mooresville?

$250-400 - look for a bargain in S. CLT, inside 51 . . .

$400 and up . . . DH likes Ballantyne CC . . . I am not sure why - I am not as fond of it as he is. I have seen homes at Lake Wylie and at Lake Norman that I thought looked very attractive.
