I currently live with a friend, but know next to nothing about the Charlotte area. I'll be moving out soon, but will be staying in this area for at least the next 6-12 months, depending on work. I don't mind being out in a surrounding area like Concord, but don't mind the city either. I would like to find a 1 or 2 bedroom in a relatively safe, clean area; unfurnished; W/D hookups. I'd like to keep it in the 800$ price range, but I'm not sure what I can expect to find at that price in nicer parts of the greater Charlotte area. Any locals with an idea of where I could start looking would be of great assistance. Thanks.

Check out the rental listings on Craigslist, it's the best place I found rental ads on so far. There are a few scams here and there, but most of the ads are real. You can also google "Charlotte rentals" but there will be a ton of links. I found some nice places similar to what you described in nice areas. Drive around and see if you like the area before you sign agreement, if you like something, post the location here and someone will tell you if it's good or bad. Rent.com and apartments.com could be a good option as well. Good luck

Hi Jdev 30,
I currently live in Southwest Charlotte near S. Tryon and Steele Creek Rd and looking to do a lease transfer by January 2009. I have a 2bd/2bath, 900 sq ft, all electric, $699.00. The remaining lease is only for 7 months, it's cheaper than signing a new lease to get this price. I am moving out of state and trying to transfer the lease to a new tenant, I am willing to pay the security deposit. The application fee is $25.00. The apartment complex is Arbor Trace Apartments. There are great shopping areas (Rivergate Shopping Center) near by and the area is nice. Let me know if you are interested.
