This was my first year participating in the toy run and the event was inspiring. The most touching thing I witnessed was a child who ask Santa for nothing except the prayers of others in order to get well enough for surgery. All the circumstances for this child are unknown but Mom was standing close by with tears streaming down her face. When ask if he wanted a present under the tree the child gave a negative reply without a moments hesitation and repeated that he only wanted to get well enough to have his surgery. Please help get a prayer chain going for this un-named child.

I haven't gotten the count yet, but expect that there were around 1000 bikes involved.

1,000 bikes....what a sight! I saw the bikes coming down Wilkinson in Belmont/Cramerton. At first everyone stopped because, with the police escort and headlights, it looked like a funeral procession. Then traffic started moving but then slowed down to watch as the toy run passed. It's hard to explain but it was quite mesmerizing

i saw the pictures today in the gaston gazette and it looks like there was a good turn out and everyone had a nice time. I am sure that many local children will benefit from all the effort from those that participated. Great job!!

Our motorcycle club started the Gaston County Toy Run about 13 years ago and it's grown every year. We raised thousands of dollars this year and hopefully made a lot of kids happy. Thanks to all that participated, and there'll be another Gaston County Toy Run in 2009, on the first Sat. in December.
