Everyone seemed very married at least everywhere I peered. I guess I can't assume everyone is engaged in martial bliss from one restaurant outing though.
Bike trails? Walking paths? Next to a nice townhome/condo in South Charlotte? I'd like to walk out my door and head down the trail. Plus close to a YMCA?
Thanks!
Dawn--What part of LA? I'm in "The OC." (I really dislike that new term).

Lisa,
While I wish you good luck in whatever you decide to do...Please DO NOT MOVE TO CHARLOTTE if you are a) unmarried and over 30 b) love soccer moms who treat you like a freak of nature for being a professional woman over 30 and having not popped out kids c) never want to date b.c. there ARE NO MEN here or if they are...losers...or they are married..or dating the 20 year olds and still bar hopping at 40. Obviously...I am a bit bitter...but it is reality...all my girlfriends over 30 (the few that are still single)...say the same thing. It is like going back to the 1950's.
I just wanted someone to be honest with you. It is really hard to even meet singles here at all (I moved from out west for a job) and it is the most depressing place in the country to live if you are over 30, female and have a career...again...wish you luck with whatever you do...but someone had to be hoenst with you. Your brother is married...male...and doesn't know how hard it will be for you here.

No offence meant, but I have found that if a person needs to be convinced that he/she will like a place, they probably won't. You live in "southern California" which could mean you live in a hicktown or in L.A. or San Diego. If you are from Victorville, Bakersville, or Barstow, you will likely find Charlotte a cool place for singles. It is all ralative. Charlotte is not Paris or Barcelona. It is a landlocked white collar city that has normal venues for a city its size, normal restaurants, normal bars, normal demographics, but growing very quickly. Come with a positive attitude and you will enjoy it here. Come with a apprehensive/negative attitude, you won't. I often hear singles complain that Charlotte is a family city, yet I go to bars that are full of singles all over the place. There are great neighborhoods all over the county for singles. Depending on your lifestyle, many chose Southend, NoDa, Elizabeth, Dilworth, uptown, or some lake communities. No matter where go, nothing is like home. Just remember that. As far as walking, parks, etc. I am a big hiker. There are great walking parks on Lake Norman as well as health spas. I live in Cornelius and can walk to at leat three health spas and wonderful parks with walking trails. I have never met a person that didn't love it here (Cornelius). Singles seem to come out of the woodwork after 10:00pm during the week and earlier on weekends.
P.S. I used to live in Santa Barbara.

I am single, over 30, have a career, just moved here a month ago and like it a lot. Guess it depends on your attitude.

Yeah, she could have met a man, got married and had a child. Lisa, do you ever move? Wherever you are. Hope you are doing well.
