I am fairly new to town and have attended two Panthers games but plan to really do it right for the Monday night game next Monday. Several co-workers and myself want to have a big tailgating event but none of us have been here more than a few months and are not sure where we can set up the tents and cookers to do this. Can any of you all offer us suggestions? We are willing to pay a small fee for a spot if we have to in order to get close to the stadium but are nto sure how to find and secure a good spot.
Graham,Mint,3rd,Poplar,Morehead are all good spots. Basically as close as you can get
Expect to pay about $30-40 to be close. There are other great spots for about $15-20 but they are just a little further away. Not really that bad of a walk.
We park over on a lot that sits at Mint,Poplar, and 3rd. $30 for that one and its pretty darn close.
We paid $10 to park on South Boulevard for a Panthers game. It only took us maybe 10 minutes to walk to the stadium from there. We saw LOTS of people tailgating on our walk over.
Thanks for the info! Don't mind paying $30-$40 if we will have a little room to set up the grill, set a few coolers out, and set out several chairs. Do any of these lots allow this or do they pack the cars in like sardines?
I don't know if folks have to pay extra for tailgating (e.g., do they need to buy an extra space), but I saw PLENTY of folks grilling/partying in the lots prior to the game we went to. It smelled so good we wanted to crash a few parties, but we didn't have the nerve to do that.
There are a ton of lots around the stadium. We usually dont pay more then $20-$25 and there is plenty of room for tailgating, etc. Park along S. Tryon street south of 277. Its cheaper and only 10 minute walk.
If anyone has extra tickets, please PM me. I would love to go!
If you are plan on tailgaiting with friends, not necessarily strangers, there are some lots over near the bus station. The walk is not bad, 10-15 minutes. They are usually pretty open and it usually only costs $10. I like it there, beacause it gives you room to spread out your crap and have some fun. Plus getting out afterwards is a piece of cake.
Good point Jstn, thanks. It will be mostly friends but we will always consider passers by if they are pretty cool. We tailgated for a few of the final Knights games and had about 10 on the roster but prepared food and beer for about 30. Usually went home pretty much cleaned out. That's the best way in my mind. We will probably park Monday morning with our stuff and just leave the cars there. Working that day limits the available parking around uptown until after 4 or so I would think.
There are plenty of lots available around the stadium. Just pay attention to the signs when you pull into a lot. I've noticed more than a few that have signs that read "No alcoholic beverages". What is the purpose of tailgating without drinking?
I'd say the largest tailgating lot would be the one that sits bt. Church St, 3rd St and Poplar - in-front of The French Qtr restaurant and to the side of Picasso's sports bar.......it's $30. We put up a 10 x 10 tent, if that gives you any idea for space.
It's going to be cold next Monday night, so if you bring a space heater you'll be very popular
