Any TWC installers on here??? Please read!
Ok so remember about a month and a half ago I told you that someone had opened my small TWC box on the side of my house and ripped out one of the wires. Right after that time, someone tried to open my back door at 1:30 am and set the alarm off. I had the police come out and they said they couldn't do anything unless TWC said it had been tampered with. TWC came out and said yes and fixed it and tie wrapped the box-I was standing right there. I never pursued it. So today when putting my garbage can away, I checked on the box and guess what, it had been cut open again and some other wire pulled out!!!!!! My phone is working but I'm wondering if it had been tampered with again?? TWC has no reason to come over and cut open that box or any other utility right?? I know we didn't open it. It's the box that has your alarm and phone wires in it. Please help me before I go out and buy myself a Cane Corso.

I've had similar problems with people breaking into my twc boxes. After much complaining I had TWC install FOUR locks per box that only TWC has keys to... While not 100% secure, its a lot harder to cut off 4 locks than one zip tie. (Which I can do w/ a set of car keys)
Call TWC back and tell them you want it locked, not just ziptied or clipped.

Wow...Himain...sounds like you've been having some GREAT luck since moving from Fla (trees, snakes, windshields, wires being cut)!!! You can secure the box yourself. My home actually has the circuit breaker box outside ( which I found bizarre). It amazes me how many people have not put pad locks on it. I guess it's the NY'er in me that doesn't trust anyone . I put a huge lock on it the day I moved in! I hope your luck changes soon!

Maybe this is a daft question.
But why would people break into the TWC boxes int he first place?

I have no idea why they were going into ours.... I live in a condo complex so it could have been anyone trying to steal cable... who knows. I just got fed up with it and had them pad lock it and since then we've had no issues.

I say pad lock them or do whatever you want. It's on your property and your paying for the service. If TWC complains about it tell them "Fine, Directv doesn't care if I protect my wires". You could also put wire armor (the metal sheathing) around them to make them harder to cut.

I was curious about your question so I did some searching and found many sites, forum board type, that answer the question. Hacking into a motherboard(?), stealing service, and other esoteric techy kinds of "free" stuff can be had by people that know this kind of stuff.

I guess if you have your telephone bundled thru/ services w/ TWC, if they cut the lines, wouldn't that mean your phone service was out, too? So I am wondering- since you have an alarm system - is someone trying to make it where your alarm won't send the signal back to the monitoring station?
I am just wondering if someone is up to no good . . . messing around trying to figure out how to break in and over ride the alarm system. I can't see a kid doing it just for jollies.

The answer to some of these "strange things" reminds me of when they asked Willie Sutton why he robbed banks. He answered "Because that's where the money is".

ummm ok it's obvious someone is trying to break in your house!
i would look into buying a dog in case the alarm doesnt work.
have you purchased anything new that your neighbors might've seen?
new car? new tv?
thank God I have a dog. someone broke into my home when i first moved in to my house, and they left the door wide open....not sure if they ran because of my dog or because they saw an Angel that is 10 feet tall holding a 6 feet sword in his right hand?
either way...get a dog.
My alarm didnt work..and we never figured it out.
If the alarm, dog, or Angel doesnt stop the intruder then I believe the Good Lord is telling me to tryout the 30-06 with 180 grain to make sure it goes through, and hits the 2nd guy behind him.
