Thanks for all of your responses! They are extremely helpful! We looked into the Abberly Green apartments and they actually cost more right now than Waterlynn Ridge... I haven't looked into any subdivisions but will.. We are slightly on a time crunch now and have to make a decision soon... I'm just extremely nervous of not being able to find a job within weeks or months of moving. I have been applying but with an Ohio mailing address it makes it difficult to be taken seriously. Also, the way the economy is going I might end up being unemployed longer than I want. Its a big risk to move in our current economic times, but the other part of me is telling me to take the opportunity now. At least my husband will have an income coming in but its more than that for me. I don't want to be without a job for too long because I will be alone in new surroundings and after a while that takes a toll on a person!
I just want to make sure Mooresville is the right place for us to thrive! Thanks for your help and keep it coming!!

I second the notion of looking to rent a house. It's actually not as expensive as you might think. The price/sq. foot is much lower with housing rentals than most apartments.

We just moved to Mooresville from Columbus in May, and I'm an OSU alum--you can bet we're Buckeye fans! I think the overall job situation is a little better around here, although it's not great at the moment. I don't have a whole lot to add that others haven't said already, but even though I left a piece of my heart in Ohio, we love it here. I definitely see us staying in the area. Have you visited the area yet and had a look around? There are tons of restaurants and shops, a few movie theaters, some bars, some other things to do (although I admit, we haven't been seeking out much in the way of nightlife, so I can't help you very much there). Other cities like Statesville and Concord are only a ~20 minute drive away, and so is Charlotte, so you shouldn't be too bored. Traffic on the western side of Mooresville is pretty bad (I think there's been too much growth since the infrastracture was designed, it just can't handle all the cars going through there). However, that's probably going to be the side with more lively nightlife and things to do closer to it. The eastern side has less traffic, probably better for families to settle there, etc.
I was worried, before we came here, that it would feel too much like a small town--I've lived in big cities my whole life. But it doesn't feel like that at all (although it still retains some of the positives of a smaller 'town' over a big city). Also: SC beaches are only a 3.5-4 hour drive away, rather than 13+ hours from where we lived in Ohio.
Edited to add: Someone else has mentioned renting a house. It seems that in this area, your average house for rent is priced about the same as apartments with similar square footage. This was not the case where we used to live, but you might be able to get a separate house for a similar price.

Thank you again for all of your responses! I really appreciate it!
Littlelilith-How does living in Mooresville differ than Ohio? What are your pros/cons... I'm aware of the obvious, weather, location, etc... I'm looking for day-to-day stuff.. Did you know people in the area before you moved or did you or your husband move for a job? If you don't feel comfortable answering these on a public forum just send me a message.. I would REALLY appreciate any feedback!!
Also, if anyone has any specific knowledge about Waterlynn Ridge apartments I would love to hear it.. I don't know if we want to get into a house just yet..
Thanks!!

Waterlynn Apts. are brand new. They look very nice from the outside. I have not seen any on the inside. They are in a very convenient location. I-77 within 3/10 of a mile. Hospital and all kinds of medical offices next door. Five minutes from downtown Mooresville. Plenty of shopping and resturants near by.

I would suggest moving into Huntersville....1/2 ways between Mooresville & Charlotte. Not alot in Mooresville for people your age. Huntersville would probably be a better fit. And if you were to work in Charlotte and live in Mooresville...oh boy...what a commute in traffic. GOOD LUCK!
Don't get me wrong...Mooresville is nice...but kind of a distance out of Charlotte...especially during rush hour.

It would be reverse traffic coming and going from Huntersville to Mooresville. You guys would really love Huntersville...it is in the Lake Norman area...right off of I-77...at exits 25 & 23. Huntersville is really built up with everything you need.
Rush hour...probably 15-20 minutes to Mooresville and about 20-25 to Charlotte's Uptown from Huntersville.
Rush hour from Mooresville to Charlotte's Uptown could easily take 1 hr.

Streetview shows the same stuff there as here
Coming from McKinney Texas on the 31st. The corner at 77 & 150 looks just like 75 & 380 here where I live. every Natl chain is there, the local fast foods and grocery stores are different. Just hope there are better orthopedics than the 100 or so I have tried here in Texas

There used to be a great entertainer in Mooresville
Kent Steel was his name, he has been spotted at many
local places from Velvet Hammer to Charleston Chops to Mia Famiglias
to Solace in Cornelius Shops on the green, We used to love listening to
his music for years, where is he now?
someone needs to book him again locally so we can enjoy going out again!
