Default Relocating to Mooresville... General Questions!

Hello!
My husband and I are potentially relocating to Mooresville by the end of the month. We are currently living in the Cleveland area and have been born and raised here. I have a few concerns and would love to hear honest feedback! We are in our mid-to late 20's with no children. What area around Mooresville would be good for us as far as nightlife, shopping etc.. We have visited the area and loved Mooresville but we are not that familiar with the surrounding areas and we are looking for apartments to rent. He will be working directly in Mooresville. We are also HUGE sports fans. Any feedback as far as jobs, housing, nightlife and overall quality of life would be great! My husband is a little more on board of our impending move than I am and I would love to hear from locals, transplants or anyone currently living in the Mooresville area. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hello there and welcome to Mooresville! We've been here about 4 years and it is a fine little town. I think the population runs about 20K people, and a lot of that is in recent (last decade) development.

Not sure what kind of work you do, but the majority of jobs in Mooresville are in retail, startup businesses, and such. M'ville is the headquarters of the Lowes Home Improvement chain. We have a pretty good hospital and decent schools systems (Mooresville Graded Schools and the Statesville-Iredell Schools).

There are brand new apartments located along Hwy 21 (Charlotte Hwy)between Wilson Ave and Waterlynn Rd. I can't recall their names, but they are advertising "now renting". They're also building new condo's right in that same area.

Can't help with nightlife as that ship has sailed for me! A big night out for me is dinner and a late workout at the YMCA.

Hope this helps a little. There's a bunch of other folks who can contribute their thoughts of Mooresville. Maybe they'll chime in soon.

Thank you so much for responding!! We were actually looking at Waterlynn Ridge apartments.. They are more expensive than others we saw but they have more of a "home" feel than just an apartment. Have you heard anything about these apartments? Good/Bad?

As I stated, my husband already has a job waiting for him in Mooresville so I'm the one looking. He is a sales manager and I have a background in marketing and event coordinating. I know the job market is pretty tight in Charlotte at the moment but here in Ohio it is stagnant. There is zero growth and companies are having massive layoffs. I honestly feel the market will be able to rebound a lot faster in the Charlotte area than here in Ohio. Any other info you may have will be greatly appreciated!

Again, thank you so much for your response! I truly appreciate it! We are huge college football fans so I'm hoping to find some Buckeyes in North Carolina

PS~ There is nothing wrong with a late workout at the Y for your night out! I used to take spinning classes at our local YMCA at night and loved it! Thanks again!

I live in Mooresville and it's a nice little town but traffic sucks.

I don't go out much, so I can not really answer the nightlife question. However, there are a ton of restaurants and bars here, so I am sure you can find a place to go. Plus, Huntersville and Cornelius are only a few minutes away and there are a lot of places there also.

There are plenty of places to shop plus there are malls less than 30 minutes away in Charlotte and Concord.

I do not know anything about the apartments at Waterlynn, but I do know where they are and they seem nice.

Hi, Waterlynn Ridge Apts. are very nice. They are brand new as well. Also in a very convenient location. I would say though, that you could find something quite a bit less expensive. Have you looked at Abberly Green just down the road? There are so many options available right now.I would definitely check around. Your husband won't have any traffic issues working in downtown Mooresville. Most of the congestion is along hwy.150 going towards Lake Norman area. Stay on the East side of town to live and you'll be fine. You'll find plenty of nightlife around the area as well as decent resturants and shopping. As far as football, we may have to convert you! Good luck to you! I really think you'll like it here.

There isn't a TON of nightlife in Mooresville. There is Gss, Jokers(dueling piano bar), and a few other bars. The Red Eye is a martini bar that has never impressed me.

Mooresville isn't exactly the nightlife capital of NC. Thankfully, Charlotte is but a short drive away...

Well, the good news is that there are many Buckeye fans in the Charlotte Metro area. Just a warning, though - there are also quite a few Gator fans in the area, so if you still have lingering nightmares, beware !

Seriously, good luck with your move, I think you won't regret it.

And, they have that Party Bus that goes to Charlotte from Mooresville on weekend nights. I heard that is one fun commute!

I second that...stay on the east side of town, that's where I live. It's not as congested & the traffic is alot less & he'd be closer to downtown Mooresville. Have you looked at rentals in any of the subdivisions? I don't know what your price range is, but there's rentals available in just about everyone of them. I know of 2 in my sub alone.

GOOD LUCK!!

BxRosie
