I need to get a subscription to the Charlotte Observer...
But I don't want to call the paper and subscribe. We used to get it from a nice lady who sold subscriptions at a little stand, it was about 25% cheaper and we got a $10 GC too. Unfortunately she isn't selling anymore.
I used to see other people selling subscriptions and now that I need to renew I can't seem to locate a stand.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for a discount subscription??
TIA!!!

I hope you get a reply and share it with us!
I get the local Mooresville paper twice a week and the Statesville paper on Sundays. All told, the bird cage never needs any liner material.
My DW won't let me drop those rags unless I get her a nrew source for Sunday coupons and circulars.

Ugggghh. Don't subscribe to the CLT OBS. They outsource the layout! If you can't employee people in the community where advertisers are paying for ads . . .
But I know . . . I like the coupons, too. I just pick up a paper on Sunday and get the rest of my info off websites.
I have more reasons for intensely disliking the CLT OBS . . . but the bottom line is . . . mediocre paper.

Hating the paper and finding an alternative are two diverse things.

Seriously...I just read the website if I need something local quickly. The writing is marginal, editing (being an editor, I'm a stickler for it) is suspect, and the slant seems a bit off from objective.
I tend to read the NYT when I really want to find out what's going on.
To stay OT, does the Observer website have any info on subscriptions?

There is often a family in the exit of Lowes Foods in Ballantyne selling subscriptions. They may only be there on the weekends .

It's largely a mediocre paper but you can't beat flipping it open on a Sunday afternoon.
Besides, I need something for the cat's litter box and the coupons too.

NCYank,
We got a discount subscription for the CO with a gift card from a vendor at Wal--Mart in Rock Hill when we first moved here. I was going to cancel our subscription in November when it ran out, but they called me and offered to match the price of the Rock Hill paper, which I was thinking of switch to because it was cheaper. (We live in Fort Mill.) So if you call the office and tell them you want to renew at the same rate you've had, they will likely renew it for that rate. They were very nice to me.
