I know i asked this in another thread, but i cannot find it.
I see so many people moving here. To me it looks like people are just trying to pick a place they want to live and that the choice is not dictated by a job (as my move here was). Im curious as to what all you new or soon to be residents do to pay the bills???
With Charlotte being the 8th most violent city in the nation, why locate to Charlotte when you could live across the state line and live so much cheaper and safer? Even outside the city limits which many are doing?
Homes are cheaper here than a lot of cities from DC on up. ALong with property taxes. The pace of life is slower and in my experience (we have lived in 4 states) ppl in the south are just nicer. They say thank you, please, etc. (well most ppl do LOL)...seems to be a little more traditional values. JMO
this is exactly what i mean!!! How do you have the flexibilty to move wherever you want???

I am in Charlotte because my husband dragged me here!
Actually, we just decided LA, CA was too difficult to live in with kids and commutes and high housing, etc....so we loaded up the family and moved AWAY from Beverly!
Our 1st choice was Raleigh (because friends are there) but there weren't jobs to be had for my husband there so we are in Charlotte. Turns out it was a good thing.....Charlotte has more to offer our needs in many ways.
Mr. Sippi and others we are moving to North Carolina because they are calling it the next Atlanta and we all know Atlanta is over crowded so we Clevelanders as well as others in the country want to be apart of the action as the next city emerges to become the greatest. Also Mr. Sippi the weather is beautiful and alot of us who stay in cold cities want warmer weather. And Mr. Sippi alot of our employers are moving to the North and South Carolina areas for the golf and the weather so we have no other choice. And you want to know how we pay are bills since we are moving here without jobs. Answer is that we Clevelanders save are money because it is so so so much cheaper to stay in the Carolinas so we save are money and get an apartment quick and before we know it we have a job. Also Forbes Magazine rated Raleigh/Cary the best city in the country out of 100 cities. So then the next toughest question is where to move to Charlotte or Raleigh.

when you say across the state line what state are u referring to I personally didn't know charlotte was that violent but when you are coming from Cleveland Charlotte seems not very violent you can't get more violent then Clevleland
We are moving for a warmer climate, lower housing costs, no private school tution unless you want to and not have to, a little piece of land to call mine without mortgaging my great-great-grandchild.
Opportunity to finally open up that business that's been put off for years. We're getting older and the north feels a whole lot colder these days. My dream house or as close to it as I can get. A slower pace and peace of mind.
Plus, I couldn't convince my husband to move to Hilton Head, SC. This was the closest I could get
