I hear ya, I am still here, and let me quote my brother who thinks that sometimes you have to put up with something in return for something good... and he ironically says,,, "I put up with Cleveland's bad summer in return for its great winter , hahaha"
soooma
Have a nice day
So when did you make the move, and what is your input regarding such a major move? I would appreciate a little comparison

Sooma - I know you are looking for input on comparing Cleveland and Charlotte . . . but just wanted to take the opportunity - since you are back on the forum - to tell you that I hope you are excited about your move, and that I think you will find Charlotte very welcoming to you and your family. Also, my DH was in CMC-Pineville recently (CHF) b/f being transferred to CMC-main - and the hospitalists were top notch - very impressive. So you are joining a wonderful group of professionals here (even tho I know you will be at a different location).

Well I am sorry to hear about your husband having CHF, but you know what this is the most common cause of hospital admissions in the united states of America,,, and he is lucky to be in this decade having this problem, because a lot of nice treatment modalities are available for this CHF,,, like beta blockers,,, ICD's sometimes if Echocardiogram dictates so,,, ACE'inhibitors like lisinopril,,, all known to improve survival in people with CHF.
Back to being excited to move to Charlotte,,,, and I am very very excited, and happy,, and the more times passes and people know here that I am leaving Ohio once and for all (Sadly I am leaving my brother here and looks like he has no problem with the snow -as if this is the only problem with Cleveland-, and we are foreigners, and we planned having him work with me, but I couldn't really handle Clevealnd's weather, though I like the city,, but the weather is really brutal, beyond human description!!),,,, and I am planning to visit with 2 weeks to take a look at Matthews for a house for rent,,,, and may be Ballantyne,,, I heard it is nicer neighbourhood,,, but also it is way far from Union,,, right? So Matthews does offer a nice commute... thought I don't mind driving for 20-30 minutes a commute..

I would keep an open mind about any appealing neighborhood w/ easy access back to 485 or HWY 74. You will be on Hwy 74, f/ 485, for about 13 miles to the hospital. So I would not confine myself to anything until you actually see the neighborhoods and figure out your travel time to the hospital.
You just need to make sure your realtor (or relocation expert - whomever you are working with) keeps the commute in mind when lining up properties for you to consider.

Soooma, be sure to look at the Lake Norman area. there are two major hospitals here (Huntersville and Mooresville). It is a great accessable area with all the ammenities normally in walking distance.

Thanks Vindaloo, but I signed a contract with CMC-union already few months ago, and based on this I am relocating to Charlotte,,, and I am trying to find some nice neighbourhood that would offer a nice commute to CMC-Union and at the same time wouldn't be really out of Charlotte, let's say half way between Charlotte uptown and CMC-uion,,, or a little bit just a little away from the middle toward the Hospital,, as long as the neighbourhood is nice,,, and for you to be able to help, you may need to know that I am gonna rent for a year or so,,, then after getting used to the city and get to know the ins and outs of Charlotte ,,, I will be in a better position to decide on where to buy,,,
soooma
Have a very nice day

Soooma commutes to charlotte
Sooma check out gastonia, nc. Some call it the bed and breakfast of charlotte you have interstate 85 and go anywhere you want in just matter of minutes.
I drive to charlotte to doctor, i live in gastonia for family friendly neighborhoods and slow lifestyle, but can get to charlotte in no time.
I moved from colorado a few years back and lived in a rural part of north carolina before moving near charlotte. I want that rural family friendly slow pace lifestyle, but easy commute to all the things you need and love to do, gastonia nc fit that bill.
Easy access to all interstates, shopping, hospitals, doctors, best medical in the world. Many of the doctor from chapel hill and duke live and work here and drive to charlotte for work. I know if you are a doctor you know duke hospital and chapel hill where top notch training and discovery happen all the time. Great thing is because of chapel hill and duke in nc, many doctors from all the over the world move here first to work or train there, then decide to stay in nc but want a small slower pace, so move to gastonia work in charlotte.
Good luck on your decision.
Chris

Perhaps you missed the info that Sooma will be working at CMC-UNION??? A commute to Gastonia to Monroe would not make him a happy camper. Sooma, stick with Matthews or south Charlotte for what you are looking for.
