So long as you don't try to change us here in SC, welcome! We might just have to build bigger jails cuz those revolving doors are not revolving here. But see, our governor does not like federal aid...we're poor down here, but I guess we'll make do. You guys sure you wanna be a part of SC? It's rather red down here...

I don't blame you for putting conditions on that possible coalition . . . we not only have a revolving door here, we have a Hug-A-Thug problem and a catch a release policy.
And CMS superintendent just announced the school system has to RETURN $5 Million to the state. . . wh/ is a BIG problem . . .
So an allegiance w/ NC might not be in SC's best interest, LOL!!!!!

LOL, Ani...guess our governor is a bit of a maverick. Hubby told me that SC has an even stricter policy on illegals than the guidelines of eVerify, and hefty, hefty fines for employers hiring illegals. Still, gas is cheaper down here, y'all..c'mon down!

ani - When I read about the school system having to give back $5 million, I had to laugh. If I think about this situation happening back in NJ, the outcome would be totally different. The town would be telling the state they had already spent the money - tough! The town or city would then say "we need another $10 million so if you send us an additional $5 million, we'll call it even! They never do "givebacks" up there!

This is an interesting thread!!! I think Charlotte is better off voting for Obama and Perdue. Think about it. Perdue owes us big time for turning our backs on our own mayor in her favor.
I don't think we should be blaming the voters for McCrory's loss. Pat did it to himself with his proud and loud support of John McCain. I am sorry, but McCrory completely forgot about the Dems that supported him every election. His support of McCain was an embarrasment to Charlotte and he got what he deserved.
Perdue is an eastern NC governor that will have more power than McCrory ever would have had. She will get the Charlotte projects funded if she chooses. We need to rally behind Perdue (which is easy being that we voted her in LOL) instead of fighting about her win. Keep in mind, I voted for Pat and Obama!!! I got half my wish.

Yep, it is an interesting thread and brings up many perspectives on the possibilities for Charlotte's future under our new Governor and w/ a DEM legislature.
It should be interesting to see it unfold. Just promise me - whatever happens - we all remember who voted on what and how they voted . . . come next election!!!!!

You can safely bet that with Bev Pudue in the NC Governor's chair and a solid majority of Democrats in both the NC House and Senate that all parts of NC west of I-77 will get NO HELP from the state. The "good ole boy" Democrats rode the tide of Obamaism into office and they will continue to spend western tax money on DOWN EAST ROADS and projects. Meanwhile the out of date and desperately inadequate roads and bridges in the Western part of the state are clogged with traffic and are unsafe.
Bev Purdue even had TV ads shown in the eastern part of the state riling up the Democratic electorate with insinuations of sectionalism and a gentle reminder that the good roads and bridges in that part of the state were built because of Democrats. Those same ads were never shown on the Piedmont and Western NC stations.
The Democratic party in NC has always been the party of the East. They are so powerful that they can control Democrats from the Piedmont and Western part of the state and make them vote against their own constituency and with them to serve the east!
