I was driving on Rte 150 in Denver today and I saw a tree with green leaves and red flowers. I could not get close enough to get a good look but I was wondering if any of you might know what it could be.

Hey, SSD!!! How big was it? Could it be a camellia? Or was it bigger than that?

It could be. I think it was 20-30 feet tall. It's hard to say it was very far off the road.
I am looking for trees and shrubs to plant on my property and I am noticing some trees that I did not know were evergreen, like Magnolia trees. I am really looking forward to adding some of these plants to my landscape. I would love some ideas of great plants(trees/shrubs)

Oh! How exciting! You have so many choices!!! You are very smart to see things you like and find out what they are. Gosh, I wish I had a picture to see what it is you noticed . . .

I just can't think of anything that might be in bloom right now . . . except maybe camellias.

I have .80 acre. the back of my property is mostly woods with a little open area and mostly open in the front of the house. I would like to have some privacy from my next door neighbors but I don't want a privacy hedge. I just want something that will screen us a little without having a "fence" like appearance and to eliminate a direct view to our yard.

Are the flowers big? Does it look like clusters?

If I get a chance while riding with someone maybe I could pull over and take a picture. I will have to borrow my sons camera, he has a really good zoom. There are so many different plants down here I don't know where to start.

Crepe myrtle are nice & come in a variety of colors. I had one in South Jersey & plan to get some here. Then there's rhodos & azaleas, but Southern Magnolia is also very nice, if you have space, & you do.
