Just trying to find out for my brother about k b home builders in the monroe area. Has anyone bought a home from them?
We were looking at a KB home online and our realtor steered us away from it. She had bad experiences with other buyers here (north of Charlotte) and considering our previous builders, she didn't believe we would be happy with them. She did tell us, however, if we absolutely had to have a KB home, she would do her best and fight with them tooth and nail for us. I think it all depends on what you're looking for...
We have looked at KB homes around Charlotte...mediocre building at best. Big homes with a lower price tag but overall not a good quality home. There used to be a website dedicated to all of the people nationwide that had problems with KB homes...it was something like www.kbhomesuck.com, or something like that...beware
What are structural upgrades? Does that mean if you don't upgrade, you don't get 4 walls, or beams to support the house? I'm kidding, of course, but seriously, isn't the structure included in the home price???
It means thing as 9ft celings instead of 8ft is an structural upgrade. Having a bay sliding glass door is an upgrade. Turning a loft or den is a structural. Its something you physically upgrade on the house that is almost impossible to upgrade later.

Almost impossible or too expensive. The things we usually upgrade are better roofs, radiant barriet, better blown insulation, etc. We don't spend money on cosmetic stuff you can do later and usually cheaper than the builder, and have more options. That's just my experience.
