Default Belmont area

Hello All,

I intend on moving next year and in doing my research for schools and homes I have found new homes being built in the Belmont area. Can anyone spread some light to me regarding this area i.e. crime, homes, population, demographics and extracurricula activities such as a boys and girls club or park and planning activities. My son will be 7 when we move and I would love to keep him involved in activities outside of school. Your comments are greatly appreciated.

I love Belmont! It is quaint and friendly. Access to Charlotte within 15-20 minutes is very good, crime is low. I am sure you would find activities for your son there or in nearby Gastonia. Good luck!

What lovesmountains said is true. We lived in Belmont for 6 years and loved it. Beautiful town, very good schools, very safe, best commute into Charlotte, and great access to Gastonia and airport. The U.S. National Whitewater Center is right across the Catawba River. I'd highly recommend it!!

We loved Belmont too. My sister in law and her family live there and LOVE it. They are right on the water and are in their boat almost everyday. They have a 6 yo and she is involved in a lot of outside activities through her school (St Michael Catholic School) and also the Gaston County Rec Dept.

We looked at the schools and it appeared that Belmont Central was the Elementary to focus on.

Good Luck to you! Belmont is wonderful!

Anita

add me to the list of Belmont fans! It is one of my favorites drives to take the back roads from Tega Cay into Belmont.

Belmont is wonderful. We relocated to Belmont from Fort Myers Florida last November. The town is full of families, the parks and rec dept offers lots of sports and activities, there is also a very nice YMCA here as well. The crime is low, not non-existent (but where is) there are grocery stores as well as numerous places to eat locally. We looked into ALOT of other areas and found this to be exactly what we wanted.

Isn't Belmont right next door to Mount Holly? What I remember about Mount Holly is that it has a pretty active Ku Klux Klan chapter. The Grand Wizard (or whatever they call that guy) of the local chapter lived in that town. I remember back when I was in college going for an interview over on that side of Charlotte. I was sitting in the personnel director's office and he stepped outside for a few minutes. There was a magazine on his desk and I leaned over to see what it was and it was a KKK publication! The PERSONNEL DIRECTOR of this company a member of the KKK! And not even hiding it! I've been wary of that whole area every since. Around that same time, a friend of mine who is Egyption got a job over in Gastonia. Knowing the atmospher around there, I BEGGED him not to take that job.

you know NCborn...your post seem to come right out of left field. Then I went back and read some of your past postings...and suddenly it all became quiet clear to me. May I suggest to anyone getting ready to respond to you...that they too read your previous posts first.

Thank you SO much for the heads up! Now I won't waste a second of my time responding to that person. Isn't it amazing how some people just thrive on the negative?
