I somehow missed this way back when you posted it. No hard feelings at all, ani!

I am so glad!

This thread is pretty old . . . I have been to Northlake several times since it was first posted - and I feel the same way I did earlier. Seems like a nice place to me.

I am afraid so. But, hopefully it will at least be safe until dark.

VIN - I guess I am just missing something - maybe cause I have only been there recently during the day. Are there big meetups of kids all over the place at night? I just can't see this as future Eastland but you all are evidently seeing things I haven't and you have probably been there more often than I have, too. Are they having crime in the parking lots and problems with shoplifting in the stores?

Well, I hope not cause it seems the city is growing in that direction and I want to see it thrive. I can't fathom that it is unsafe.

A friend of mine works security at Northlake. He said that since the curfew has been enacted, things have gotten much calmer.

That has doubtless cut out all the kids hanging around. I think the concern has been . . . if kids hang around, then drugs and alcohol may at some point be involved, then things get rowdy. At Eastland, that is what happened - it was like huge parties in the parking lots - and sometimes violence broke out.

That is why I don't see the police and mall management allowing things to get to that point - they know what happened at Eastland, so they are going to make sure things don't get out of hand at Northlake.

Which makes me wonder . . . don't kids have any place to gather other than parking lots and food courts in malls? Maybe that is part of the answer - providing areas where kids can gather - with at least some degree of supervision. Just a thought.
