Wow...high bill last month for November. I know it was cold but I didn't expect a 200 dollar bill. Others experience the same last month?

My bill was much higher than normal also. Over 200 for me as well. I can't figure out why since it really wasn't that cold. I need to check my insulation.

Well..it WAS cold...in fact the average temp last month was the same as January last year, I just looked...at least according to the graph they supply. 42 degrees....November 07 was 50 and January 08 was 42...hmm...might explain it

Mine was $200 as well, with the thermostat at 62 most of the time, up to 67/68 after work, back down to 62 for bedtime. Being my first winter in NC, I called Energy United, wondering if someone misread the meter. They told me that Nov. was the COLDEST month on record since 1969. Not the coldest Nov., but the coldest month. I believed her and paid the bill.
Closed on a house the week before Xmas with a southern roof line that is perfect for solar panels...

I just called Rutherford Electric and asked if this is normal and she said the bills are just going to get higher for a few more months. Please tell me it's not so.

My November gas bill was higher than normal too - about $150 for 2900 sq ft house, but it was a cold November for sure. The good news is that Piedmont Natural Gas is cutting its prices, so gas will end up being cheaper this winter than last. But God only knows how long that will last!
