Wink Gaston County, N.C.

Has anyone checked out Gaston County, N.C.? It's not Los Angeles, but it is historic. Many people came down from up North years ago, to work in the textile mills. Many of them were of European descent. There is just so much history here. I recently wrote a book about my great great grandfather, John Franklin Murphy, a Confederate soldier who fought in the Civil War and lost an arm and a leg. After he was let off in Dallas, N.C., he "hobbled" the remainder of the way to his house, also in Dallas. This is a story told to me by my aunt Claude from Cherryville.

Wow, can you imagine if the gov't tried doing that today? People sure had strong characters back then. They had to.
