My wife and I are in a toss up between Charlotte, NC and Nashville, TN so we are researching both cities. We want to live in a very small town that will not grow much, we want a house with 3-6 acres of land and very private, we can only spend around $160,000.00 or less. We want a nice safe place with very little crime and around 20-40 minutes away. We do not want anything that looks like a city around the area. We don't mind working in Charlotte as long as we can come back home to peace and quiet. Any recomendations? We are also first home buyers as well and would like to know if there are any honest good helpful realitors. Thanks.

I think the first thing a good, honest, helpful Realtor will tell you is that you would easily spend $160,000 on 3-6 acres anywhere within 20-40 miles of Charlotte. If you want to find a house with acreage you're gonna have to move further out. That's the honest part. Now for helpful...you are welcomed to use my website, found under my profile, to research the area and see what's out there in your price range. If you find something that interests you let me know and I'll see what I can find out about it for you. And, as for good...well, I'm just a plain ole good person

I'm sorry...you said 20 - 40 minutes, not miles. It's early! Anyway, the story is about the same. Anywhere within 20 - 40 minutes of Charlotte I'd be shocked to find acreage for that price. And, that's just the land.

can you recommend some good safe areas and counties that are not built up and are very rural?

"Very rural" will be tough within 20 to 40 minutes of Charlotte. Try looking near the Lincolnton area, maybe Marshville in eastern Union county or north of Statesville going toward Surry county. But be prepared for at least an hours drive from some of these rural areas back to the edge of Charlotte.

Default Most towns near Charlotte are growing rapidly

Charlotte is a wonderful place, but you should be aware that the entire metropolitan area is growing. Lots of people are moving there--consider this: the Charlotte site is the busiest section on the entire city-data web site.

I don't know if the same is true for Nashville, but I think it's growing rapidly, too. I also don't know if there is a particular reason you mentioned those two cities, but if you want a nice place that isn't growing quite as fast, you might consider Asheville, Murphy, or Hickory in NC--and Chatanooga or Knoxville in TN.

Actually, Knoxville would be a good choice to meet your criteria musiccomposer

My 1st thought when reading this post was the area west of Landis/China Grove and east of Mooresville, I was out there recently on our way to the lazy 5 ranch and it was all pretty baron. Good Luck

Hey music, I ran a search of Rowan county through Allen Tate using your specs and had 2 hits.
Check them out:

MLS # 645135 + 647888

and then I lowered the minimum acreage to 2 and I found another one that looks good 657070.

Hope this helps.
