that's kind of funny (that they would announce it, I mean)! Hello, we are short-staffed today, please speed, steal, etc.!

How many cops does Charlotte have? I think there would be enough where they could just fill in those vacancies with people who might normally have the day off.

Then again, I have no idea how it works.

That's exactly what they said they'd do. I really dont think that the city would agree to deploy 80 officers with a gaping hole in public safety being the only net result. This is a great opportunity for these officers to use the specialized training they've received.

I'm pretty confident that we wont notice a spike in crime in the 4 days these officers are gone.

I agree Hoagie I was just being sarcastic because it doesn't seem to take much to give the career criminals in this city a "green light" to do whatever they want.

Hey guys
To my knowledge Charlotte has over 1500 Police Officers. They also work on rotation so not all are working at the same time. The ones going probably have the day off or they have someone to fill in for them. Oh and don't forget about the sheriff deputies that can also help out. So don't worry I don't think we'll have a spike in crime because a few cops are gone. If you think about it crime is high everyday.

Your scenario reminds me of Die Hard 3 when the kid gets caught stealing a Butterfinger and says "Look around, all the cops are into something. It's Christmas. You could steal City Hall!"

they should be proud they are taking part in a historical event. Charlotte.com is just producing news and it posistive historical news why wouldn't they announce it.

I also strongly believe crime will be way down in Charlotte and the nation as many will celebrate and watch our new leader is sworn in and the festive events happen before or after it.
