schooling for 2 yr. old child
I am new to US,and don't have much idea about school system here in US.
What are the schooling options for a 2 yr. kid, like pre-school, kindergarten etc.(not day- care)?
Also can someone recommend a good one at University area or Downtown.

Some churches have a 2 year old kindergarten called Abekka. My son attended it and did well. However, he is 26 years old now and we lived in another state at the time.... I am sure that there is somewhere here in Charlotte that has this same program....

You want a good Montessori program The closest one I know to uptown is actually in SouthPark - though there might be others closer.

Preschool is what most do for that age or if you just want 1 or 2 days a week for socialization there are mothers mornings out programs . You can do church based or non church based. You can do part time or full time.

There is a Montessori school on Prosperity Church Road, sort of in the University Area. No personal experience with the school, just drive past it everyday to/from work.

I completely agree with the Montessori recommendations. My daughter started Montessori at just over 2 years old and loves it.
I believe there are some in the University area, but I am not sure.

A lot of churches run "child development" programs without religious overtones. They usually run on M-W-F from around 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., starting at 2 y/o. The younger kids get a nap and they bring their own lunch. Another requirement for kids is that all clothing be easy to remove for the bathroom. My grandkids (in another statea0 have learned so much. both social knowledge, facts, and increased vocabulary! They are Roman Catholic but they go to a Presbyterian church's program. Religion is not included in classes.

Child Care Resources
Try this website. You can search for a preschool in your area. The website will tell you costs, ratios, and whether it is a liscensed school. I found my daughters preschool by using the site. Best of luck to you!

I believe the Goddard Academy is in the university area and is considered a school not day care.
