Loves, please reread my post. I think you misread what i was saying.
Sorry Patti, just read it again, twice, and I don't think I misunderstood. But do correct me if I have okay?
Sounds like you are saying they can live anywhere simply because they can afford such a variety of homes. While that is of course true, especially the more you have to spend, the point I think you are missing is that in Charlotte these days you want to try to live as close to the where you work as possible. For example, people who work in Ballantyne but insist on living at Lake Norman have a horrible commute and become part of our traffic problem. It is much better for all of us if as many of us as possible live near to where we work. If more newcomers don't become more conscious of this we are in real danger too soon of having traffic as bad as Atlanta.
I agree with you and this is why I stated that their new home search should be relevant to their new jobs. Not irrelevant.

Sorry Loves, I also think you misunderstood. Patti said relevant not irrelevant. I interpreted that to mean that where your job is matters when choosing a home.

Traffic would really depend on which time of day you would be traveling. During non rush hour, I can get from belmont to the pineville train stop in about 20 minutes. Gastonia would be about 5-10 minutes longer. During rush hour though I would add about another 10 minutes commute time. From this side of town, for the most part you are driving against traffic.
Tega Cay would be slightly less travel time.

I'm originally from south of Boston, and there it took 1 1/2 hours to drive 30 miles. Now in Winston-Salem and traffic is no problem. I was in rush hour traffic before Christmas, and it was very heavy with a few stops from South Charlotte up to Huntersville, so I know that wouldn't be a very good commute. Thanks

Laughing at my hormonally challenged self now - (some of you ladies will know EXACTLY what I mean by that!) I swear I read the sentence as "shouldn't be relevant". And I read it that way (wrong!) 3 times! Good grief - sorry Patty

Exactly. I can drive to South Charlotte from Kings Mountain in 30 to 40 minutes. I would not want to do the drive from some of the outlying towns out here, but any of the towns on 85 out here make for a fairly easy trip into South Charlotte.
