Further down the street in a similar price range is Brightmoor (cross over 485). It's the largest subdivision in Matthews, with a good mix of house sizes. There's also a pool and tennis court.
Hampton Green is nice, but it's pretty tough to take a left turn out of the neighborhood, unless a courteous driver stops for you.
Thornblade is an option as well -- it's before Brightmoor (before you cross 485) and across the street from Squirrel Lake Park.
