Default Hampton Green Subdivision in Matthews

My wife and I were driving around and looking at houses this weekend in Matthews, NC. Our price point is between 175-250K and we really liked the Hampton Green subdivision. It seemed like the houses had good sized lots, mature trees and all the houses were unique. It wasn't the typical cookie cutter subdivision that you see in most Charlotte neighborhoods.

It's a lovely neighbourhood and has a community pool. We have friends who live there and they love it. There is a mixture of ages of the residents and kids who live there. The only downer on that particular neighbourhood is that there is only one exit in and out and the traffic on John Street (I think it's called that) and that turning off of Fullwood make is nigh impossible to turn left out of there. But other than that I don't see any problems. the schools are Matthews Elementary, Crestdale Middle and Butler High - all great schools.

Not sure of the subdivision but you are correct John Street and Fullwood.

It's really cute in there...I will say that there was a home invasion there a few months ago, but it had nothing to do with the neighborhood itself.

Make sure you check proposed road construction. The town of Matthews is going to be working on the intersection of Fullwood and John and it will affect the neighborhood.

But wouldn't that be an IMPROVEMENT to the neighborhood? I think the new configuration will help people get out of there, maybe I'm wrong?

It will if you live within the neighborhood, but some of the houses along the road will likely be adversely effected as the town claims some land for roads.

Thought it was going to help the neighborhood

I love that little neighborhood too. I especially like that you can walk your kids to school, maybe church, the summer concerts at Stumptown Park or the big 3 day Matthews Alive! festival every September

As for road "improvement"...I certainly have mixed feelings about this. I'm not too sure what that intersection improvement will be like but I think that the widening of Weddington was a waste of time and money and am DREADING the "improvement" of the 485 ramp off of Weddington.
