Default Young Professional (Teacher) Looking To Buy First Home in CLT Area

Hi!
I've lived in an apartment in the Lake Norman area for the past five years and enjoyed it, but after some heavy thinking I have decided that I am ready to purchase a home.
I am a teacher (possibly looking to relocate schools next year based on where I buy) and am currently making around $35,000. I'm looking for a townhome/condo in the $100-130,000 range in an area that is SAFE and APPEALING to a young (28) single female living alone.
Any ideas on communities/areas that I should look into?

I would truly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Amanda

I have friends, several of which are teachers as well who love their townhomes off Eastfield. A few others of Prosperity Church. I think that is a good area, but obviously depends on what schools. I am trying to remember where they are building the new town homes in Huntersville. PIcking a good time to buy, though plan to lose 5 to 10% of your investment the first year, and making it back the next. I don't think we have hit rock bottom. But to egt a 4.5% 30 yr fixed rate would be very tough to pass up.

You are so right about this being a great time to buy because of the interest rates! I would SO love to be buying right now myself - to have 30 year fixed at less than 5% - what a dream!!! Sadly, with my hubby's job loss our plans had to change. When our time comes back around I know I'll probably get at best 8%, and be happy to get that I'm sure. For those of you on the fence about buying right now - just crunch the numbers - 4.5%????? Ohmygosh that gets you such a great note!
