He played like total crap. What a joke. I said all week that I had a strange feeling that Arizona would take Carolina out. Everyone said I was nuts. Oh well, if I had only been in Vegas, oooh the cash I could have had.

No doubt Jake Delhomme played terrible. But there is another reason for Carolina's loss. 39:45.
Arizona controlled the ball for nearly 40 minutes and if it wasn't for the Panthers last touchdown it would have been 45 minutes. John Fox got outcoached by Ken Whisenhut. The Cardinals mixed it up with a bunch of misdirection plays and timely crossing patterns. The wide reciever screens, where the offensive tackle runs to the wide out as a lead blocker, worked well. Their O-line made Edgerrin James and Tim Hightower look like pro bowlers. Carolina did not have an answer for Larry Fitzgerald. Carolina was lucky Antoine Boldin did not play.
And surprisingly the Cardinals cranked out 140 plus yards on the ground. Running was supposed to be their weakness. They played keepaway with the ball.
Delhomme for sure made some bad decisions. But Arizona put Carolina in a hole right off the get go. With 5 minutes left in the half the Panthers were down by 3 scores. Delhomme had to play catchup and couldn't. There were LOTS of cases of miscommunication with the receivers. And Smith was almost shut out entirely.
Give credit to Arizona, they had the answers. Just my 2 cents worth.

Jake has never had to win many games with his arm. The Cardinals shut down the running game (or the Carolina coaches took it out), and FORCED the turnovers.

Im a Cards fan, have been for years, so the win is nice, and well deserved with a well balanced team and great performance (for a change!) ... However I'm stunned at the play of the Panthers and the coaching choices??? Not the crushing team of the regular season....and not utilizing the run was weird. I mean I understand when you get down you may need to pass to get big play points, but that was obviously not working well....So run, at least some! the run is what gave you a 12-4 record, in a tough division! Who is the second string QB??? Why not put him in?? He couldnt have done much worse.
Carolina is a great team and will be back in the hunt next year for sure!

It was crazy that they flat out gave up on the running game. Even midway through the 3rd qtr, sure your down but you still have to mix in the run to keep the defense honest. You can't expect a qb to drop back and throw into nickel and dime defense on every single play. Sure Jake was terrible but he got no help at all from the coaching staff. They've got 2 quality rb's, maybe they break a couple and then you get your play action back.
Poor coaching and poor qb play. I will say though, it is nice to see the cardinals have something going on. As a long time NFC east fan its good to see that there will be a throwback showdown next week... hopefully with the Giants.

I was at the game and the most interesting part of it was when the 5 people got arrested and manhandled out of the stands by the Charlotte Mecklenbug police. It turned my attention from the slaughtering on the field! Yesterday was Jake Delhommes birthday, the Observer said he was handing out interceptions out like party favors!!!
