For the past couple of days I have been getting a number of calls from different numbers with a 334 area code, which show up on caller ID as "ATT." I have a general policy of ignoring most phone calls, but tonight I decided to answer it. The caller claimed to be calling from AT&T, had my name, and stated that I have a balance on my account and asked if I would like to handle it now. I told her I would handle it on my own, and she promptly hung up.

This was obviously a scam, and I verified that others have been dealing with this by doing a google search. Assuming that they are just working through 704 numbers, I figured it would be worth posting a warning here.

Yeah, they "handle" it by getting you to authorize an electronic check - just give them all the numbers of your bank account.
