Former United Way Leader King files suit
Gloria Pace King files discrimination complaint | CharlotteObserver.com
Former United Way head files suit claiming discrimination in firing. Any thoughts on that? I must admit I am a little amazed that she did this.

No one is surprised. She's completely justified and if the UW is smart they'll just settle out of court.

So what's her argument, they are paying a 'white man' a 1/10 of her pay.
I think this suit shows her true color...green.

Really, I was surprised. She was paid a ton of cash and it killed the fund drive. Didn't WCNC get a letter in the mail talking about it and that is how the event started? Does she still live in Charlotte?

Obviously, she is gonna milk the system for all it is worth. She carefully engineered her salary and benefits increases, as the record clearly shows. What a crock.
She worked for United Way, alright . . . the most United Way thing about her job was how she united the executive compensation committee to see things her way.
WALL OF SHAME!!!!!
Racially charged? You gotta be kidding me. The only thing that got charged was the coffers of UW when they anted up to pay Queen King her outrageous salary.

Is anyone else repulsed by that Bill Diel guy (the attorney)?? He is just about the most unprofessional attorney that I have ever seen in all my life.
How is anyone supposed to take him seriously?

I really don't see this and I don't see how injecting race and gender into the equation is appropriate here. Do you care to elaborate?

They should definitely settle. No one should be surprised. The board agreed and created a contract with her, then tried to dump her based on public opinion. You may not think she was worth it, but the board did and they authorized her compensation.
I find it odd that the outrage falls soley towards King and not to the group that acted as her "boss".

Bay - we have written here over and over that the Board needed to be held responsible - and most of them resigned.
However, if you really have kept up w/ this case, you would clearly see that King engineered this whole thing very carefully - worked behind the scenes for YEARS to manipulate the board (the executive compensation committee) to agree to her demands for all that money going into her retirement fund.
And no, she was NOT "worth it." Even national philanthropy not for profits and oversight agencies have come out against King being compensated at that level.
