If you have taken the test, don't give up hope yet. I was called yesterday and was offered one of the temp jobs as an enumerator. I initially accepted the job, but when I compared notes with my wife I realized that for a variety of logistical reasons we could not both do the training (in different locations) at the same time. I called back today and since there was no flexibility I had to decline the position.

I called the people doing the hiring for the census & they are no longer hiring. They said that they will be hiring again this fall & that you can put yourself on a waiting list.

The criteria for hiring in Charlotte RCC is totally incomprehensible. First I was told I would be called since I had experience in 2000 as Team Leader and did well then, also scored 97 on 2010 test. THEN when I didn't get called, I was told with the job market like it is, probably only the 100% scorers wouldbe called IN SPITE of my experience. THEN I got word yesterday from a friend, ex-vet who tested and scored 95 before the vet points were added who ALSO was not called (both of us female), that a MALE friend of hers (NOT a vet) who scored SEVENTY-NINE was called to report for training. Is that logical? Not at all. Many of the people who worked with me in the 2000 Census wouldn't touch this one with a 10-foot pole. Why? (reread the first paragraph) It looks like 2010 CENSUS is going down the same road with exactly the SAME level of efficiency that we who slaved to do the job right in 2000 observed: KEYSTONE KOPS RUN THE CENSUS..... AGAIN.

I'm glad that you revived this thread, although my question/beef probably belongs in the Pol. forum.

Who can comment on Obama's desire to take census taking out from under where it has been forever and into his hands of re-districting?

Perhaps this is the reason you have been XXXX?
