Wow, that would be GREAT!!! Even after reading all four pages of this thread, I still had to check accuweather to see if this wasn't a joke! We went back home to Chicago to visit over Christmas and got no snow, so it would be real nice to get some here!

The only thing I don't know is if my class tomorrow at UNCC would be canceled. I would feel pretty goofy emailing the prof to ask if class is off due to a few inches of snow, especially as a grad student/former Chicagoan, but from what I hear people pretty much stay home, right?

Do they plow/salt at all here?

I'll believe it when I see it! Everytime I hear the word snow, I think back to Jeff Crum and the News 14 cast. Last year, they predicted a big 6 inch snow. Granted, it snowed, but it never stuck to the ground. That this storm popped up so fast though may make it a significant event. I'll be sure to go get my supplies tonight...Gastonians drive bad enough without any precipitation, LOL

You'll want to turn your TV on the news early tomorrow morning. If they are going to cancel classes, they'll have the closings up early--like 5:00 or so. Some colleges and universities have those alert systems now where they send you a text message if there's an emergency closing.

Get ready to see some interesting behavior...I've lived in the South all my life and it never fails. Wrecks are inevitable, but snow brings out the good in people around here...everyone (who isn't used to it) is just so giddy and happy and life's good Wouldn't y'all agree?

Only main roads/bridges are plowed. The less major the road, the less likely it would get any attention in my experience.

Here in Concord they'll lay down some sort of a brine salt in lines along the road, but I've never seen a plow. In fact, the only time I remember seeing snow here was a couple of winters ago where this dusting wrecked havoc with traffic and businesses. There was a line of closings to scroll though that seemed forever to take, yet there was hardly anything on the ground. Accidents, cars off the road...

And really it doesn't speak well of us from the north with our winter driving skills. We're the ones coming down here in droves, so I'm imagining it's our cars getting into those accidents and flying off the road into ditches...

Yeah, honestly I don't know about driving in the snow down here. I've seen more bad accidents here (85 near Concord) than anywhere else, even in good weather but especially in rain. Also, I've noticed that many of the exit/entrance ramps seem to be sharper and less banked than up north which may not go well with slush/snow.

I'm still a Chicagoan at heart but will be glad to play Southerner for a day and stay home for snow!

WCNC is saying it is coming. But per ol Brad, it could go north or south of us just as easily. If it hits the mountains first we won't get anything, but if it comes up I-85, we usually get hit. Milk and bread shortages are predicted....

If it snows in Concord I am going to be SOOOO depressed, because I'm not there anymore!

I'm in Ocean Isle Beach, NC........they are talking some freezing matter here but come on, I only remember once in my life where it snowed here substantially. It may sleet until it hits the ground or something.

When we lived in Concord over 10 years, we had several beautiful snows, and it seems like we got at least something to look at every year whether it stuck around or not. I will really mourn the fact that my 1 year old could have been in Concord with me now. (Can you tell? I'm homesick and would move back in a heartbeat).

Please snow...but please don't, since I'm not there, you know??? Argh!!!!

BlueLily--- wants to be in Concord, in snow!

If it is anything like when I lived in Connecticut for a few years, the daredevil mommy SUV drivers will be out testing the capabilities of their 4 wheel drives, popping wheelies, doing donuts in parking lots and letting out their middle-aged aggression on the roads.

Or if it is anything like when I lived in VaBeach for a few years, there will be more cars stuck in ditches on the sides of the roads than on the roads themselves ... although there don't appear to be as many ditches on the sides of the roads here.

I make my own bread and don't drink milk ... so at least I don't have to worry about the inevitable mad rush for bread and milk that I assure you is not exclusive to the South.

I seriously feel like a school kid here in anticipation for what would be considered a light snowfall where I grew up (which wouldn't have even delayed schools most likely *note - this was the prototypical Yankee comment predicted by the killjoy in an earlier thread*).

I work from home, so I fully plan to take an hour or so off and play in the snow in my backyard if we get more than a few inches, even though I am in my mid-thirties. My poor wife will have to deal with snowballs in her coffee and put down her back when she is least expecting it, me and the dogs tracking snow all over the house, nagging me to shovel when I would much rather be playing and all sorts of tomfoolery that I am sure will pop up ... so I am sure she is hoping for the forecasters to be very, very wrong.
