Default Real Estate Taxes in Charlotte Metro Area

Have been reading blogs about r.e.taxes going up in Charlotte Metro area. Can someone tell me, as a prospective home buyer in this area, if being outside city limits is an advantage in this respect or are they going up in Mecklenburg County as a whole?

Thank you.

An advantage to living outside city limits are the tax rate are 20-25% less, but things like gargabe pickup isn't free (or part of your taxes).

Are tax rates in the city going up over 1.2973%? I know a lot of areas in Charlotte are being annexed, but I wasn't aware of the tax rate going up.

I didn't mean the tax RATE: I meant the overall tax. Sorry for the confusion. How much would garbage pickup outside Charlotte add to your monthly bills?

Thanks.

Denny, garbage collection is just part of city services, not sure how you'd find out exactly how many dollars of your taxes a year are going toward it. Outside of Charlotte private garbage collection can vary but last time I knew was about $35. a month.

In Union County we pay $65 a quarter for trash pickup.
