So who else is a freelancer or small business owner? Anyone interested in a meet up or networking so we can help each other w/ business leads, refer clients to one another, provide services to each other for particular areas of our business?

Take my work . . . there are times I could subcontract work to a graphic artist, an IT specialist, an HR specialist, an actuarial . . . There are even times I could pass some work to an RN who can do medical records auditing . . .there may be times a graphic artist (or the agency he/she contracts with) needs copy written/edited, and I can provide those services.

So who is a freelancer out there? What do you do? Any interest in meet ups or w/ sharing info via email?

In this job market here in Charlotte . . . is there any way we can support each other better?

You know I'm in, Ani! I'm afraid I don't have much to share with others, but I'm all for receiving help and contacts. I suppose we'll have to arm wrestle for the copy editing, though.

Well, my son has a side company, Graphite Group that does web design and he is also a graphic artist. He and my oldest son are developing something that will hopefully lead to a lot of online work in the future in addition to creating applications for the iPhone and other similar smart phones.

I have a little side company called Good News Services that does almost any kind of administrative work, but, especially notary (real estate) closings and secret shopper stuff.

HEE HEE!!! I would be so glad to turn over some of the copywriting/editing to someone else, really. I would like to concentrate more on business development for healthcare related clients (wellness centers, complementary medicine practitioners, fitness centers, EAPs, etc) - new service lines development and implementation - and oversee concepting for marketing plans - leave the actual copywriting to someone else . . . so not so sure we have to arm wrestle, Hee Hee. Probably more like shake hands - and head to our computers to knock the work out!!!!

Okay - so there is a website designer. Does he ever do webmaster type work - i.e, charge hourly or on retainer for changing and updating things on existing websites, uploading new pages, etc?

Ooohhhh - very interesting, Phugia!!!! Since IT is something that mystifies me, let me set up a scenario and see if I understand what you do.

Let's say I have a client here in Charlotte who is starting up a new healthcare related business. She needs to have a database w/ provider as well as patient information wh/ will be accessed daily through a call center, as well as online thru/ a website. There will need to be reports generated on weekly basis, including mechanisms for billing. Must be a very secure system in accordance w/ HIPAA laws.

Could you set up such a system?

Yes, I could. I won't be able to build the application from fresh myself. But I can find one that works best for your client's needs and do the install and training. I'm sure they have some unique needs that other doctor offices don't. As a matter of fact, I've done that for some of my doctor clients and they have been satisfied. I can give you their contact info so you or your client can talk to them directly to find out. I'd love to sit down with your client and discuss their needs.

I am actually a Medical Biller and work out of my home. I am not sure if I could help you at all but I love the idea of a meet up group as I would love to get a few more Doctors to bill for now that I have more time with both of my kids in school.

I have alot of experience in correct coding and could also perform chart reviews.
